Is what I upload to Claude on the internet for anyone to find?

Quick answer: No. A regular Claude chat has no public link. People can only see a chat if you make a share link. Anthropic says your files stay private even then.

Can other people see my Claude chats?
Not unless you share them. Anthropic's help page on sharing chats was updated June 15, 2026. It says anyone with your share link sees a snapshot of the chat. That includes anything Claude made in it.
Files you added are not in the snapshot. Anything you send after you share stays private too.
Can Google find my shared Claude chats?
It has happened. On July 28, 2026, Malwarebytes reported shared Claude chats in Google results. Some had names and addresses in them. Malwarebytes said Anthropic seemed to fix it. Old links still worked.
Sharing does not post your chat to Google. When I checked on Oct 18, 2026, Claude's share pages tell search engines not to list them. But that is a request, not a lock. Anyone who has the link can still open it.
My rule? If you wouldn't print it on a flyer, don't put it in a shared chat.
How do I share a Claude chat with just one person?
You can't lock a share link to one person. So here's my favorite tip.
Copy the part you need into a text or email instead. No link. Nothing to forward. Nothing to find.
On Team and Enterprise plans, links only work for people inside your company.
How do I make a shared Claude chat private again?
Open the chat and click Share. Then switch the dropdown from Public to Private.
Or go to Settings > Privacy > Shared chats. Click Manage, then Unshare.
What happens when I delete a Claude chat?
It leaves your history right away. Anthropic's page on how long it keeps data says it leaves their servers within 30 days.
Deleting keeps a chat out of future training. It won't pull it out of training that already started. Feedback you gave with a thumbs up or down is kept 5 years.
Does Claude use my chats to train its AI?
It depends on a setting you control. Go to Settings > Privacy. The switch is called "Help improve our AI models." When it's on, new or resumed chats may be kept up to 5 years, with your name taken off.
Brokerage on Claude for Work? Ask your broker about those terms.
What should real estate agents never upload to Claude?
Client paperwork, even with the names taken out. This rule is mine. It doesn't come from Anthropic.
My never-upload list:
Purchase contracts
Inspection reports
Seller disclosures
HOA packets
Pre-approval letters
Client bank statements
Closing documents
Anything with a client's name, address, phone, SSN or birthday
Use Claude on your own work instead. Think listing notes, captions, emails and weekly plans. No client is at risk there.
Why doesn't taking the names out make it safe?
This is my own thinking, not Anthropic's.
Black out every name on a contract. The address is still there. So are the price, the lender, the closing date and the MLS number. Any one of those points back to your client.
Contracts are long, too. You can check 36 pages and miss one name on page 37. One missed name is all it takes.
What should you do today?
Check your Shared chats in Claude. Then send this post to your broker. One shared rule beats everyone guessing.
